In Your Head 03:18
IN YOUR HEAD I hope it's in your head All the words I said And what it means to me If you don't agree Well then it's in your head I hope it's in your head If you want me to save the World Then you better give me More than a day to do it If I'm out to save myself Then I'd better get The World to give me help You work, breathe, eat, sleep Laugh, cry, love and you die Yeah, there's no point fooling yourself It's just a habit of life I hope it's in your head All the words I said And what it means to me If you don't agree Well then it's in your head I hope it's in your head When they said it would be hard They never said it would be virtually impossible When I said I was here for good I meant I was here for good times And I don't wanna say 'could've told you so' But you were in the right and it was time to go So forgive me if I speak my mind I never was the silent type You got that 'get rich - get big' thing in your head Yeah, you got that 'get rich - get big' thing in your head I hope it's in your head All the words I said And what it means to me If you don't agree Well then it's in your head I hope it's in your head All the words I said And what it means to me If you don't agree Well then it's in your head I hope it's in your head All the words I said And what it means to me If you don't agree Well then it's in your head I hope it's in your head

JUST MIGHT MAKE IT If you were real I'd write my will And leave it all to you Nothing's new So I bite my tongue And I leave it down to you What's to do? It's times like these I take my time to choose Win or lose Did you know There's a place where we can go? But you don't get there by faking it If you've got a little love Then you just might make it If you've got a little love Then we just might make it If you were here I'd write your name In the sky up above for you Something new I'd make a fresh start And I'd put it all down to you What's to do? Been saving myself For someone that looks like you Win or lose Did you know There's a place where we can go? But you don't get there by faking it If you've got a little love Then you just might make it Oh, there's a place where we can go But you don't get there by faking it If you've got a little substance You just might make it If you've got a little love Then we just might make it If you've got a little love If you were mine I'd give you every second of my time If you want me to Something new It's you and me girl Show the World We got a point to prove Lots to do Been biding my time For someone that thinks like you Win or lose Did you know There's a place where we can go? But you don't get there by faking it If you've got a little love Then we just might make it Oh, there's a place where we can go But you don't get there by faking it If you've got a little substance We just might make it If we've got a little love Then we just might make it If we've got a little love Then we just might make it If we've got a little love Then we just might make it If we've got a little love We just might make it Might make it Just might make it Home again

Chillin' Out 03:28
CHILLIN' OUT Forgive me 'Cos I'm just chilling out I'm not crashing the stock market Bringing the bank system down Forgive me 'Cos I'm just chilling out I won't fight for my country This war ain't my argument, man We're just laughing and joking And drinking and smoking all night We're hoping and praying They'll pass if we turn out the lights Turn them out Forgive me If you all got bills to pay I was the king of the Internet A subject of something less grand We're just laughing and joking And drinking and smoking all night Hoping and praying They'll pass if we turn out the lights Turn them out Forgive me 'Cos I'm still here today I'm just making my fortune The less than unfortunate way Laughing and joking And drinking and smoking all night We're hoping and praying They'll pass if we turn out the lights Turn them out Turn them out Turn out the lights and chill out Chill out, chill out Yeah, yeah, yeah Chill out, chill out, chill out Chill out, chill out, chill out Chill out, chill out, chill out Chill out, chill out, chill out

YOUR WORLD TODAY I've been around but I don't know much I've seen plenty of faces but I haven't the touch I gotta get around to something soon Before they drag me down I didn't like being down and out So I found the free way and I covered some ground I fell into the late night bus And now I don't know where I am Well it'll take a lot of time To make it back home to you Speaking out loud Owning up to all the things I do It's been a pretty good day in my world I hope it's been a good day in your world today In your world today In your world today There were years when I stopped to care With my head in the clouds and my hands in the air I was running on empty I was running scared That you were walking out on me I didn't think I could do without But I found a free space in a positive ground I fell into the safe and sound And now I sure know where I am Now it takes a lot of bad news here to bring me down But it was any old port in a storm When the chips were down It's been a pretty good day in my world I hope it's been a good day in your world today In your world today I've been around but I don't know much And now I don't know where I am today In your world today I'm just strolling through life But I'm planning on hanging around again I think of calling 'round But I never know what to say It's been a pretty good day in my world I hope it's been a good day in your world today In your world today I've been around but I don't know much And now I don't know where I am today In your world today Who's in your world today? In your world today In your world today Who's in your world today?

THIS TIME TOMORROW You've been looking at me like that for hours You've been saying how love's a crumbling tower You keep wanting the action You keep wanting reaction 'round here And I keep saying how Everybody's looking like they want some You wanna move it on out Why don't you get your wheels on? Now that I'm in with a shout I couldn't care at all But if you want to leave then I won't follow If you want to go this time tomorrow I've been here now for about an hour You haven't said a word and I think it's catching You don't wanna discuss it I don't wanna be part of it And we don't wanna be any part of our lives And that's fine by me You wanna move it on out Why don't you get your wheels on? Now that I'm in with a shout I couldn't care at all But if you want to leave then I won't follow If you want to go this time tomorrow We've been here for quite a while now We've been saying everything There's tears of joy On the faces of the people in their shells Everybody could break out Everybody could open it up And I'm still saying how Everybody's looking like they want some You wanna move it on out Why don't you get your wheels on? Now that I'm in with a shout I couldn't care at all But if you want to leave then I won't follow If you want to go, if you want to go If you want to go this time tomorrow This time tomorrow - I'll be on my way This time tomorrow - I'll be leaving on a 'plane This time tomorrow - all the skies will turn to blue This time tomorrow - there'll be nothing left of you Nothing left of you at all

EMERALD (THIS IS FOR YOU) I met you on an aeroplane The last year of the century We were heading to the South of France You were there for company Into the great unknown we travelled Strangers in the sky I said I was just scared of falling When you laughed at my fear of heights So this is for you, this is for you This is for you, this is for you I just hope it makes you feel good We spoke of times that laid ahead The greatest of escapes Making plans for better days As we landed in the rain And the last thing I remember You were waving from the taxi cab Gone but not forgotten To hold but to never have And when I got 2,000 miles away From who I used to be I tracked you down But I never got a chance to speak And I'd love to get to know you Better than I ever did So I wrote a song about you It was all that I had to give So this is for you, this is for you This is for you, this is for you I just hope it makes you feel good Hope it makes you feel good This is for you, this is for you This is for you, this is for you

BE THERE WAITING It's a long way down When you're stuck there at the bottom And I don't mean to call you out But I haven't forgotten It's a last request From a non-united nation And I guess it's too late To ask you for my salvation No I don't need your love I've seen enough is enough I've been there once too often I've seen the good get tough I've got two strong arms And a fragile heart I won't come to any harm If you'll be there waiting It's the last transmission From a distant population And I don't mean to scream and shout But I haven't forgot them It's a one-way ticket To a dead-end destination It's a hopeless scene In a no-win situation No I don't need your love I've seen enough is enough I've been there once too often I've seen the good get tough I've got two strong arms And a fragile heart I won't come to any harm If you'll be there (waiting) It's a cry for help A last plea for your attention Did you get the last message Or do you need an explanation? It was a two-way trip It just happened in the wrong location And a useless conclusion I wish I'd never made this mistake No I don't need your love I've seen enough is enough I've been there once too often I've seen the good get tough I've got two strong arms And a fragile heart I won't come to any harm If you'll be there waiting If you'll be there waiting I won't come to any harm If you'll be there waiting Be there waiting If you'll be there waiting If you'll be there waiting

MISS UNZIPPY BLUES You get a ticket to Rio I get a caravan in Brean for my cash You get a company speedboat And I get the bus to Hell and back You take her skiing in the French Alps It's a powder-frenzied tax relief You get a feeling that you can't help Well I get that too but it comes for free That's the story of our two lives You ride your luck and I ride my bike Well I hope you got your moneys-worth out of me Don't blame it on the lack of ambition - it's free I just hope it gets me there, me there He's got a talent in the city She was my sweetheart once, a real soul mate He calls her 'Little Miss Unzippy' I used her real name 'cos it's more ornate He's got a way with words they tell me I got away with theft and nothing else That's the story of our two lives You ride your luck and I ride my bike Well I hope you got your moneys-worth out of me Don't blame it on the lack of ambition - it's free I just hope it gets me there, me there One of these things is not like the other You tell me 'Get a real job' I got a 'real job' thanks, I'm doing fine You mention that he treats you like a God You know religion never was a strong point of mine To you I'm a statistic I'm still a number if I'm a zero You'd have me working on my blisters But my job description still reads 'hero' That's the story of our two lives I ride my luck and I ride my bike I just hope it gets me there, me there He calls her 'Little Miss Unzippy' I used her real name 'cos it's more ornate Miss Unzippy blues

THROW ME A LINE Why don't you sing that song for me? The one we sang when they set the people free We we're laughing all the way to the bank But the bank was closed So we bought a cheap bottle of wine So the story goes to bed I'd love to take you home But the ceiling came down so we've got no place to go Yeah, once in a while does you good to go without 'Cos it all works out just fine in the end No doubt about it You said you want to know me I guessed you'd want to show me Why don't you throw me a line? Why don't you throw me a line? Why don't you wear that dress for me? The one you bought back in 1993 We were laughing all the way to the end When the credits ran So we headed off into the night When the lights went down Too bad You said you want to know me I guessed you'd want to show me Why don't you use that time? Go ahead and make it mine Don't make it wrong to know me Go ahead if you want to show me Why don't you throw me a line? Why don't you throw me a line? Go ahead and throw me a line Why don't you throw me? I'd love you here with me But the waters ran under the bridge And out to sea So if you see me smile It did me good to go without 'Cos it all worked out just fine in the end No doubt about it You said you want to know me I hoped you'd want to show me Why don't you use that time? Go ahead and make it mine It's not wrong to know me Go ahead if you want to show me Why don't you throw me a line? Why don't you throw me a line? Go ahead and throw me Why don't you throw me a line? Go ahead and throw me a line Go ahead and throw me a line Go ahead and throw me a line

MIDSUMMER DAYDREAM Meet me in the morning By the sycamore tree There's an island in the river We can make it by three You can bring the food I will fetch the wine We'll try our luck at fishing If we need to kill time Who cares about the weather? The sun will always shine On my summer made in heaven A daydream of mine Keep me in, kick me out But I don't scream and shout Reel me in, count me out But I can't do without Clue me in-clude me out There's a lot of it about It was love at second sight We watched the sun go down You were in the countryside And I was from the town We were in it both together We were up to our necks But I left for rock 'n' roll Forgot the drugs and the sex Who cares about the others? The sun will always shine It's a summer made in heaven This daydream is mine Keep me in, kick me out But I don't scream and shout Reel me in, count me out But I can't do without Clue me in-clude me out There's a lot of it about Now the years have come between us But you're still in my thoughts You were all I ever needed I was all you ever bought I was Mr No-one You were Mrs Cool You were made to feel so special I was made to feel a fool Who cares about the outcome? The sun will always shine On my summer made in heaven This daydream of mine Keep me in, kick me out But I don't scream and shout Reel me in, count me out But I can't do without Clue me in-clude me out There's a lot of it about

ALL OVER THE WORLD I spent too many years in the same old place Looking for a way to get off my face for most of it I'd been down and out in that no-horse town With a head full of worries and a heart full of frowns I got over it I'll see you between here and the deep blue sea If you look beneath the surface It's plain to see my love Don't let it get you down too soon You've got the sun Got the moon to help you Don't let it get you down too soon You've got the sun, got the moon Got the stars in the sky The ticket we can fly Let's pack in our jobs And leave the whole World behind Go leave the whole World behind There's a mountain up ahead to climb Let's run to the top 'Cos we still got time Are you up for it? I'm with you for the rest of this life of mine If you want to we can dream about those castles The castles in the sky Don't let it get you down too soon You've got the sun Got the moon to help you Don't let it get you down too soon You've got the sun, got the moon Got the stars in the sky The ticket we can fly Let's pack in our jobs And leave the whole World behind Go leave the whole World behind Go leave the whole World All over the World They'll be singing your song All over the World All over the World They'll be singing your song All over the World All over the World They will be singing your song All over the World There's a mountain up ahead to climb We're gonna run to the top 'Cos we still got time Are you up for it? Are you up for it? Otherwise It's all over, all over All over the World They will be singing your song All over, all over All over the World They will be singing They will be singing your song All over, all over, all over All over, all over, all over All over the World

STILL THERE WAITING I love you anyway I'm still there waiting I love you still I love you

about

"The original Upstream album was released in early 2003, having been recorded throughout 2002. Although far from being my debut album, it was the first to feature my real name on the cover.

Over the following two decades, I often played the songs in an acoustic fashion, with the tunes evolving and changing with the passing of the years. The songs grew up with me.

I briefly considered a remixed and remastered 20-year celebration version, but soon realised that it would be a lot more enjoyable to re-record the twelve songs entirely from scratch. I’d long since disliked the production of the first version.

I began working on the 'revisited' Upstream in March 2023, with the project reaching completion in late July 2023. It was a rare luxury to create an album without having to write the songs. On the downside, I didn’t have the option of culling tracks that didn’t appeal to me.

I’m glad I persevered because the ‘weaker’ songs ended up being my favourites. I decided to call the new album Upstream (Revisited). It was published on September 1st, 2023."

All songs written, arranged, performed, recorded and mixed by Jason Allen. Made in Somerset, March to July 2023.
